Baking in Africa

March 6, 2020

baking in africa

Oh my, here we go…..

Chris and I are headed to Africa this week to visit our precious friends at The Uganda View Orphanage. During our visit, we will be teaching the students how to bake, in order to sell their goods for a wage. Through baking, (and the grace of God) the Uganda View Orphanage and Primary School can move from being in a situation of reliability to one of sustainability. Nourishing not only the education of the students, but learning skills to nourish the children physically, as well.

HOWEVER, make no mistake about it…while helping this school become more sustainable is great, the individuals who will truly benefit from this experience will be Chris and me. These children reached out to me via Pie Crust and Pixie Dust at the hardest time of my entire life. They reached out when my beloved husband was in the hospital, and the fat mean bull of life messed up my little china shop of hopes and dreams.

These beautiful children showed me how to dust off my knees and dance again. How to overcome difficulty with audacious faith and love. How to RISE ABOVE darkness and be genuinely sweet, when the world can be so bitter.

Our family is beyond grateful for the joy and example these children have shown us. Chris and I have SO MANY HUGS to give to the children of Uganda View.

So anyways, would you join us in Africa for the next few weeks? We will be posting videos and photos on Instagram, and would love to have you “come along!” Stay tuned and pray we don’t get the Coronavirus! :0
